I’ve been a book club junkie for about 50 years. First (and still) it was Great Books and during the last 25 years added modern fiction discussion groups of to my life.

When my babies were born,  it seemed I was only interested in reading non-fiction. In looking back, I think my world suddenly changed so drastically that I needed to keep in touch with what was happening beyond the diapers. There was no 24-hour news cycle then on TV. TV seemed to be saying, “Are you in or out? –Of the real world that is.” I so craved to be –as always— part of the real world that I nixxed the 24-hour soapscycle and grabbed non-fiction books instead.
