It’s unfortunate, but because of the economic realities hitting our cities and counties and states, some of the things that older people were able to take advantage of have been curtailed.  In my local community college, for example, seniors could take classes by paying only a fee, but not tuition.  That has changed this year. I’m not sure if we will have to pay full tuition as well, but certainly that perk has disappeared. Free transportation for seniors is not only good in cities, but also in the suburbs. Again, there is a reduced rate, but certainly not free in Montgomery County Marlyand. In the suburbs it would be great if there were more public transportation or greatly reduced rates for taxis.

We are lucky in the DC area because most of the museums are already free, and they play a vital role in the culture of the area.
