I discovered the author Emily Giffin and love her style of writing. As a writer, my reading choices are as much about the style as the story. Our TV viewing centers around anything different from the news – escape. We discovered Upload on Amazon. I describe it as a comedy Sci Fi with the cleverness of Harry Potter. Not usually Sci Fi people, but my husband and I LOL with this one.

So Much to Read by Mary Silverstein

Since I am somewhat disabled (and 88 years old) my walking, exercising and gardening are pretty limited. What I have done is read – I am on my 18th book since March 1st. Some were quickie mysteries, but many were much more serious endeavors. The one I enjoyed the most was A Gentleman in Moscow, followed by Old Filth. Didn’t want either of them to end! Americanah, An American Marriage, and The Water Dancer were also good. I am presently finishing up the third book in the Neapolitan novel series (Elena Ferrante) and realizing many ties to my southern Italian background. Not sure if these would be everyone’s cup of tea, but I am loving them. Now if only my eyes would stop hurting…. Well, I guess I asked for that!

I have shelves full of books to be read. I like non-fiction,essays and the like. If I read fiction , I’ve been attracted to British women writers telling light, fun stories. I listen to podcasts a lot. My son showed me how to hook it up to the stereo and it’s easier to hear. I have things I intended to do and they fell by the wayside.

Keeping busy … gardening, sewing a dress for a friend, reading, and most of all painting and sketching. What helps now is visiting friends (we’re allowed one household to see). Also, we can see 6 people as long as it’s outdoors. This is in London,UK. At times there is a sense of tranquility but then there are days when I feel like I’m in a confined place not able to do what I would like. I dream of going to the seaside. But, because there are too many people going I’m waiting. Patience is being developed because of the Pandemic. Just grateful I’m OK and my relatives are OK. Strange times!
