I use to love blueberry picking, marbles, charms from gumball machines, biking and building scooters and go carts from old roller skates, all without brakes. My favorite memories are summers at the beach building sandcastles, swimming out to the raft and praying to escape the touch of seaweed. Winters in New England was ice skating and sledding down the biggest hills. My friend and I feel fortunate to have had a carefree 50’s childhood and when COVID is over to be out there again creating new memories.
Thanks for mentioning marbles, Donna. I had actually forgotten about them and my older brother and his friends occasionally letting the little sister play! These memories are so great.
Thank you Thelma. I loved all the colors and was not a happy camper to lose any in a game. The charms would be thrown against a wall, the one that went the furthest was the winner. I never wanted to lose one and if I did, I would haunt my Mom to take me for a replacement.
The 50’s created magical childhoods…2022 and the end of this pandemic will also hold some magical moments.
Happy Valentine cheers.
