Greetings Elderchicks!
THANK YOU, Thelma, for bringing to light this topic of intergenerational relationship/collaboration. I too, am involved in a couple projects drawing together different generations. I find our conversations stimulating and fun. I value their help with things I’m not good at and they reach out for advice on matters like life, love, and career.
Think beyond immediate family members, adult children, grandchildren. Two suggestions that are fun and always create new threads that bond:
- Ask yourself this question: “Do I have friends with whom I communicate regularly from each generation OR from each decade…kids, teens, 20’s thru 90’s and do you know or communicate with a centenarian? The discussions are fascinating.
- Find something you can learn and teach someone from another generation. Do it and it often breaks through old stereotypes and sparks new dialogue.
As always, thanks Thelma, for leading the way!
Me too. Thanks Thelma
