I have been reaching out to seniors who are alone and worried because of not having contact with others. Sometimes our problems seem monumental when we don’t have a sounding board. Sometimes simply visiting for awhile can alleviate the fear that people feel when they are alone and serious things are happening all over. Physically I’m not able to help anyone but just visiting helps people to feel like they are not alone.

Thank you, Pat, for reminding us of what empathy means. To realize what someone else might be experiencing, like loneliness, is what prompts us to respond. People are so fortunate to know you and to have the benefit of your reaching out to them. Thanks for the shining example. If we can’t visit, how about a call? This is a time when contact means so much.
What a sweet post.
Pat, that is so kind. I am sure when you leave, their day must be so much brighter.
Carole, I am assuming you had an over the top frustrating day.
I do not think anyone at whatever age wants to lose the comfort of their beloved home. For what, to go to an unfamiliar place, especially at their age. No. My.hope is to be at home when I pass. You mentioned grandchildren. Maybe have a meeting and divide the chores. There are agencies that provide Aides to help clean, shopping, taking them to doctor appointments, etc. Explain to Mom and Dad that you are tired and cannot always be there.
They are just old and want to be home and yes, it can be frustrating when it becomes our turn to be the one to care for them.
Let us know how you are faring. 🌿🌻🌿
Dear Pat you are terrific this huge world of forgotten people are lucky to have a good person like you Ed Barrett
