I had planned out my life after I ended my teaching career. I was excited to start my new adventure. Shortly after I quit teaching, I unexpectedly, became a caregiver for a family member. At first, I took care of a loved-one fulltime. Now I assist part-time. What I’ve had to learn is that I also need to take care of myself. For me, taking care of myself means carving out “me” time; I share virtual conversations with friends, I make sure I get exercise, and I also work on projects that are meaningful – though not to the extent I had planned. I’m learning the importance of flexibility and balance – both figuratively and literally:)

Sounds like you’ve found that balance that enables you to be the best caregiver possible.
