My activism most of the time takes me less onto the streets or in groups but more into writing and blogging. I am currently designing a blog with a friend who is a blog/marketing/design genie that will be primarily an OpEd, news, culture and political blog with articles and commentary by me and other people I know who are engaged in various ways with advocacy and activism. I look forward to utilizing this venue as an opportunity for me to do research on many subjects that concern me, with special attention to climate change, health issues, politics, (the upcoming election!) social and cultural issues and concerns. And, of course, ageism and aging will be front and center! I am looking forward to putting this up as a kind of antidote to the fiction novel I have been working on for 2 years now! I am also working on a stage play and culling my short story collection, but right now I feel an urgency to put my creativity to use in an information-based platform. I will post a link when we have it up.
Activism in Writing by Allison Fine
March 10, 2020 by ElderChicks
So much room on this wave-length, Allison! I, too, express my (growing) activism through writing. More will be mentioned here soon about How Seniors Are Saving the World, my new book with BJ Kittredge closer to pub. date of June 10, but it’s available now for preorder on Amazon. Your writing on ElderChicks is treasured.
Love it! I look forward to hearing more as your work evolves.
I understand the urgency of using our precious time to do the most meaningful work we can. Good for you! I look forward to following your work.
Thank you! Due to current situation with the pandemic I have had to stop meeting with my design colleague to create the blog. I have decided to continue writing Op Eds and post them in various outlets I have already been using: Facebook, Elder Chicks and a few other places. I will share what I have discovered about what this virus is teaching me and our global community soon!
When we speak up, we can make a difference. Keep up your work!
