Summertime is not when I crave vacations. I hate the heat, direct sun and humidity and try to avoid all three. But, this summer I am doing something wonderful. My shy 18 year old grandson loves to travel; and I love to travel with him.
So, we are going on a cruise to Alaska, and both of us are delighted. I will bring my scrabble set for evening enjoyment with him. As the middle child, he never gets much solo attention, so getting it with me is satisfying for him, and I love being alone with him, so it’s perfect for both of us.
This sounds incredible! I also HATE THE HEAT–sun, humidity, heat–it all drives me inside. But i love cold, snow, winter, cool air. Alaska sounds like the perfect choice! I wish I had grandkids–but alas, 3 kids in their 40’s, so children. Such is their generation it seems. Have fun!
My family did an Alaska Inside Passage cruise some years back and it was wonderful. There was a naturalist on board who gave us information on the wildlife we saw, a library with lots of books and games, and, of course, interesting passengers and good food. Have a great trip with your grandson
That is wonderful! May both of you have an enjoyable time.
