Yes, I also believe it is time for a woman to take the reigns as president of the US. Men have made a real bugger up of it so far and quite frankly the current female contender’s competition on the other side is a male that is soooo scary with his volatile personality not only for the US but for the world. Imagine such a person being the most powerful person in the world with the power to put his finger on the button??? Oh my word!! And then, he has shown time and again that he has no respect for women! Being a president of a country is not the same as being a business man, for sure. A woman leading the most powerful country in the world would bring that feminine perception to issues especially humanitarian, on health issues and on minimum wage. Seeing that Western women are so blessed compared to those in the Middle East and in Africa and some Asian countries, we should all try to extend our hands to reach out and touch some unfortunate woman’s hand and make a difference. Personally, I am going to start my own blog this year, write my first book and spend more time painting. Take care of yourselves, no one else will. |
Hoping for a Woman President in 2016 by E.P.

I agree with you! I live in the US and have great concern that this country is going in the wrong direction in a way that will adversely affect us and the rest of the world. And I would just love to see a woman President in my life time. And Hillary Clinton certainly has the experience and credentials necessary to do the job. When I was briefly married in my early 20s, my husband would not take me to vote. It was his car and I did not drive. The election after I left him I voted and I have voted in every election no matter how local or national ever since. (I also learned to drive, got credit and never got married again! but that’s another story). It is so important to vote and yet so many people don’t. It is amazing to me that they don’t come out to vote n big numbers unless it’s the presidential election – that is how these knuckleheads get elected to Congress and state legislatures. It is so sad.
I am still working part-time and pursuing lots of hobbies. I love spending time with my son and his wife and her family and all of my many friends as well as traveling, going to concerts, plays, museums and historical sites.
Sorry, I’m not ready to give up on a man for president. Although I’d like to see a return to the traditions that have made us great. Just recently saw a tv program on a PBS network on our real American history. I didn’t like everything I saw and heard but it did show a balanced approach to history facts. Our nations is really ill with a lot of “self” across the board, men and women . It would take years to fix our ills. But if we start with one person reflecting on “the truth” and acting on kindness, honesty, good manners and helping others, when we can. The evil that lies in the darkness will feel the light and slink away.
I am definitely looking forward to your blog, your book and your paintings! It’s wonderful to hear from a South African perspective. Happy New Year to you! BTW Should we automatically assume women will have a feminist point of view?
Short and sweet-amen.
Unfortunately, everyone believes they own the “truth” and that they are acting on “kindness, honesty, good manners and helping others.” I wish there were a formula for these that we could count on. There isn’t.
But we can start by collecting data (on income inequality, gun deaths, climate change, and immigration to name just a few of our current challenges,) and trying to understand the truths that emerge when we actually measure behavior and outcomes.
I am definitely supporting Hillary for President. Not only because she is a woman, but because she is the most experienced of all the candidates. I don’t’ think many men could have withstood all the dirty stuff that has been thrown at her, and still look the winner she is.
Hi Thelma, no I don’t think we should automatically assume women will have a feminist point of view and yes, that is what makes for interesting comments and discussions. Thank you for the welcoming of a South African, will keep you posted from time to time. Stay cool…
