Oh the holidays! From fears of too much family and in-laws to political correctness, the holidays have become a mix bag. The “season” actually starts two weeks before Thanksgiving with back-and-forth emails where we’re spending the holiday, do we have to invite him, I don’t want to go, please don’t make that awful stuffing again, etc. (Believe it or not, this process is a tradition!) Once Thanksgiving is over then the real fun begins. Without going into details, let’s just say that I enjoy the holiday season but I am acutely aware that each family member experiences it differently. Yet, on Christmas Eve we have a tradition of a fish dinner and a sing along of the 12 Days of Christmas which we all cherish. The younger generation hasn’t taken over yet because the older generation is in their sixties still very able-bodied. The holiday season is timeless when we gather together family and friends, reflect about the past, enjoy the present, and hope for the future. Here’s to 2016!

Sounds wonderful – even “Do we have to invite him?”
