I wasn’t as concerned about what he said or didn’t say. I thought that it was very important that the media gave him a lot of attention and proclaimed to the world that we are a Christian nation.
I think it was important the he spoke in Washington to show the world that the United States views him as an important religious and political leader.
Most important was his meeting with the public which I viewed as his true caring personality towards everyone no matter what his title is.
Ms. Myers, I’m not sure whether I’m misreading one of your comments. I hope so. Are you saying that it was important that the media proclaimed that we live in a Christian nation?
One of the blessing of being an American citizen is that there is no state religion. It is our gift to the world that I hope continues setting an example of people of all and no faiths living peacefully together.
Yes, Carol Myers, many of us do have a positive opinion Of Pope Francis’ comments. They were more important than his presence. That does NOT make us a Christian nation. We are religious, non-religious and anti-religious. Fortunately our Founding Fathers established us as a nation comprised of us all. Being of a majority religion does make this great nation your nation alone. This great nation is a Republic. Read our Constitution.
