Personally, I would like to support entrepreneurs who are developing products for “elders,” particularly older women; attractive clothing, single or small servings of foods that typically are sold in quantity, etc.
Socially/politically, I believe older women can and should participate in discussions regarding the direction of education for our nation’s children. Many of us are mothers and grandmothers and many of us have been professionals in the field of education. There are many issues. For example, high stakes testing, privates vs. public funding, influences of poverty on children’s learning. I believe our experienced voices should be heard.
I’m finding the world of charter schools growing murkier every day as I read about problems in big cities. When the profit motive intrudes in education “reform,” it really bears watching – and writing about. If enough of us write, people will listen.
