I will be 89 in February & have lived within 100 miles of where I was born (LA) my whole life. One of the things that concerns me now is the negativity everywhere. Don’t folks realize that your thinking creates your life? We are surrounded with this and barraged with it. I grew up during the depression, survived the stresses of WWII & the extreme years afterwards. As a nation we never doubted we would have better days and we did. Now there is fear everywhere, some justified and some not. But we are teaching it to our future generations and that is just not right .Your strength is within and in the use of your mind. Our national history is overcoming great difficulties not bowing down to pressure. That is what should be taught. I strongly believe in the power of one. I have lived it and will continue to believe in it and perpetuate it in anyway I can.

Maryland, you’re perspective, observations, and wisdom remind us of how much we learn from each other. Thank you for being an inspiration!
will be 93….agree….have lived pretty much the same way
Dear Maryland,
I believe the US will remain a beacon of liberty for generations to come. The groundwork for success has been laid by those like you who survived the Great Depression, fought for freedom in WWII, and when the dust settled, created us: The Boomers! : )
The power of one person is still evident in news stories today. We reach a tipping point and suddenly everyone takes notice. The most disturbing 2014 issues have been our race relations; and to find out that the US has tortured prisoners. Let there be peace, and let it begin with me.

Amen! Fear is not productive. Anger can be, if directed in constructive direction. Polly Dunn
