We seniors don’t have anything to gain personally from the Affordable Care Act, but the tactics of an extreme wing of the Republican party, resorting to blackmail to neuter that reasonable program to provide insurance for those with existing medical conditions and those without medical insurance is disgraceful. They are willing to stop the government from functioning, possibly go into default if the debt ceiling isn’t raised…
Yes, there is something we can and should do. Flood our Senators and Representatives and possibly Governors with our feelings on this matter. I have grandchildren who will benefit from the affordable care act; I am angry that our PA governor, Tom Corbett refuses to expand Medicaid in PA. I will do what I can.
You culdn’t have said it better!
I agree…….in addition we should fight for providing same health care insurance received by legislators…….for all citizens of the USA. Now that would be FAIR!
Seniors arise! Tell the men and women that we elected to represent us in Congress, end this federal government shutdown! Nothing is being accomplished except stress and disorder. Our federal workers have jobs to perform to the benefit of this nation – return them to their positions.
Very well said, Carol. I have been Tweeting, calling, and contacting in any way I can my Representatives and John Boehner. Doesn’t seem to be getting through, so we need EVERYONE to do it!! This is ridiculous. Holding the whole country hostage. Now it is not even about ObamaCare. They said they just want SOMETHING. They don’t even care or know what that “something” is, they just want to be “respected”. OMG! Do they think we are idiots???? They don’t want ANY government at all! They were already given the sequester so this wouldn’t happen and now they are trying it again even though they got what they wanted and our government is funded at its lowest in many years.
couldn’t have said it better myself! Leah Blumenthal
You’re so right! I’ve been doing all kinds of of lobbying. Affordable medical care benefits the entire society.
Well, I wholeheartedly agree. I’m lucky because my representative in Congress is Keith Ellison who votes with integrity at all times. My Senators are Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken who are always right in there leading the charge towards reasonableness. I should try contacting John Boehner also. Most Republicans are ready to act but he won’t bring the Senate approved budget up for a vote. That is really outrageous.
Amen!
