When I first saw the topic for the month, the image that came to my mind was my grandma at my age. Everyday she would get up, put on her corset, her hose, dress, shoes, jewelry and make up. Thank goodness, “we’ve come a long way, baby!”
No longer are there “age appropriate” clothes. I love to wear all the latest styles and look chic. Before I retired I wore business suits and heels. It is so freeing now to wear comfortable and chic.
My message to everyone today is to wear what you want when you want it!!!!
Thanks. I actually did that last night (and again this morning) and it has been more and more my modus operandi. It used to be I thought I could just schlump around in anything in order to prove I could wear whatever I wanted, but then (duh) it hit me that dressing up and looking nice was also something I wanted just not all the time. (again, duh). So I have my hippie look, my professional look, my comfortable look and oh yes, my very, very sexy look. What fun to dress however I want. Thanks for the topic.
thank you, i felt a little sad that we were being put in an appropriate box, and i began to feel really old, well thanks to your comment i feel vital at the age of 71, I look good my body still serves me well and i can were beautiful and stylish clothing. matronly is not my call as of yet.
That’s what this place and others like it are for. So glad we have forums to share and support and to be heard as well. I’m glad I could contribute.
I agree, comfort is important. I sadly gave all my beautiful high heel shoes to my grand daughter and now wear only tie-up flat shoes. The trade off is my feet don’t ache anymore. Now I wear skirts and pants with elastic bands and feel so much better. My tops cover the bands, so only I know. I still love bright colors and enjoy wearing some of the latest styles at age 81. Yes, I wear what I want!
