While we’re on the topic of books we recommend, I am wondering how many ElderChicks have ever considered taking up writing. It sounds like so much fun, but who are we kidding? It’s hard work. For one ElderGuy, “hard work” is his middle name. My father, at the tender age of 80, in between running his own internet-based inventing business and creating masterpiece quality paintings, has taken up fiction writing.
Harvey Reese (yes, he is related to Thelma) just wrote two of the best stories I’ve read in a long time. So what if they’re aimed at middle school readers? They’re great fun, full of twists and turns, and so thoroughly creative as my father can only be. These $2.99 e-Books are on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iBooks and more. If you have a 10- 14 year old grandson or daughter with access to a Kindle, iPod, iPad or Nook, these action-packed books will definitely entertain and delight them.
Of course, I recognize that this could be construed as shameless promotion, but if his own daughter can’t brag about her father, who can?
I have read both books and I recommend them. If you want a fun read–did I just write “fun read”? Excuse me. If you want good stories and delightful humor read Harvey Reese’s books. I, too, have published. Some very good plays under the name of Wilma Shakespeare. Now I’m going to have a cup of cofee [sic] with Yvone. Your beloved Aunt Pat
Hi Pat,
I remember some of those plays you wrote under the nom de plume Wilma Shakespeare. Queen Lear, Juliet and Her Boyfriend, and Henrietta V were among my favorites.
And don’t forget my great play about the star-crossed lovers Mac and Beth and my tragedy “The Maiming of the Shrew.” I know my exercise play never was a success–“As you Bike It,” but “The Marshmallow of Venice” did very well.
