My own mother, Belle Meyers, is gone almost four years. When her friend Mac died recently at the age of 98, his son credited much of the joy his father had in his later years to my mother. And it was true. Although my mother could get annoyed at people, almost everyone who met her was drawn to her. She was a giving, loving person, especially within the family, but also to many others. Our house was always filled with family and friends. And she was a leader, who led by example. I remember when she moved to Rockville, the book mobile would come to her apartment house. She would take out about a dozen books, read them and distribue them to her friends, telling them all about the book and encouraging them to read. I miss being able to call her and talk to her about everything and anything.
People Were Drawn to My Mother by Tamah Graber

And I miss the fabulous mother who adopted me after mine was gone.
Belle was a special presence in the life of everyone who knew her. She was talented in so many areas, yet I never knew her to mention any of her own accomplishments. Her warmth and modesty drew everyone to her. Although she never sought any recognition, I seem to recall that whenever she joined a cause or organization, she was quickly recognized as the woman who should lead it. Her sense of humor and wonderful intelligence shone. I loved her dearly.
I have often thought of the warmth of Belle Meyers. Her house was always open to all her children’s friends. We were so welcome that we always stayed there when in New York. I remember flying into the City for a meeting one day when I had to be back at work early the next morning. Belle heard that I had been in New York without visiting her home. She called me to insist that I never do that again. That was so like her. We were ot only welcome there. We were expected to consider her home as our own. Over the years, I lost touch with Belle and Fred when they moved to Florida and Tamah and Mike moved to a new residence. Today, I was lying here in bed with my Droid, and I got the idea that I might be able to find them if I google “Fred Belle Meyers Tamah Mike”. It worked. Tamah, if you read this, contact me.

I found some other references to your synagog. I’ll try to reach you that way.
