My favorite moments that I will savor in the year ahead will be in the hot tub. I’ve not had time to fully relax during the past seven years as I was still on the “treadmill of life”. Eventhough I was officially retired, I continued to work part-time and initiate daily social events. I had several “wake-up” calls this year: the death of our two beloved pets and a broken leg that kept me immobile for almost six weeks with not much to do but think about the rest of my life.
Now that I am vertical once again, I plan to slow down. And yes, I will provide a home for another four legged creature, not to replace the ones I lost but to repair the hole in my heart.
On 1-1-11…a great place to start, my husband and I entered the warm, bubbling water, looked up at the Florida sky, and all was right with the world. Happy New Year!
How much room is there in that tub? Should the rest of us be checking flights? Sounds like you’re off to a good start and another doggie about to get lucky in finding a great home.
Goergia,
I love your post. hot tubs are wonderful. A place of warmth to muse and regenerate.
And setbacks in life serve just the purpose you talk about–re-evaluating priorities. Making the most of each moment. Coming to terms with the changes that aging bring. Thanks for writing!
I’m looking foward to joining a sister soon in her hot tub at her winter hideaway in a warm climate where we will be discussing the meaning of life, death, and retirement–our constant challenging and invigorating topics!
